I slept in bedding sets from budget and luxury brands – these were 2025’s best | The Independent
If you want a luxury feel without the high-end price tag, then Dusk will be just the ticket. The brand’s Portofino collection channels the indulgence of a spa bathrobe with its waffle upper, piped edging and crisp cotton inner. The waffle means that it washes without creasing and, while you can’t tumble dry it (we did this by accident, only to lose three buttons), the thick waffle holds the smell of your fabric conditioner well after line drying. You can expect laundry-fresh scents for days afterwards.
You might find that the corners of your covers become tucked in after sleeping in them, so it became somewhat of a morning ritual for us to pinch them out when making the bed – but it’s a small price to pay with single duvet covers from sub-£30.
The variety of colours is great and, while we opted for the timeless white, the natural oat hue would complement a set of muslin curtains and jute cushions beautifully. The waffle texture adds depth to your interiors without overwhelming, and, as pictured on our bed, you can see how the style doesn’t prevent you from experimenting with different patterns and fabrics.
Pillowcases and sheets are sold separately, but prices for the former start at £10 for two, while duvet covers retail from £27.50 for single beds.
